America in Iraq

Right now I feel like the current political and military situation in Iraq is so conflicted that sending more troops overseas to “help” would only add more confusion.

The Bush regime’s pillar of support in Iraq is the military. The peace movement’s adoption of a strategy that reduces first time military enlistments and the number of current service members willing to serve in Iraq could make the occupation unsustainable. read more…

Without troops to fight in Iraq there would be no war to fight.  America needs to limit the number of soldiers going in and try to bring everyone else home as soon as possible.

America originally went into Iraq because we’d heard news of Saddam Hussein attempting to build nuclear weapons and we wanted to prevent a world war type of situation.  America had intentions to get rid of the biggest threats to society and itself and then leave, but they realized that they’d taken on a bigger project.  I think America might have been expecting a ”get in and get out quick” type of situation, but today we realize that that obviously wasn’t the case.  We went into Iraq initially to paralyze terrorism and remove all WPD, but we didn’t find any.  So my question is, what are we still doing there?

I recognize America is attempting to stabalize a democracy in Iraq, but I don’t think the public is fully aware that the death rate amongst American troops and Iraqi civilians has more than doubled since the first democratic election overseas.  According to this informative website, it wasn’t until after democracy was instated and Hussein was caught that a ridiculous amount of lives were taken.  Obviously a large number of Iraqis want America and its government out of their country, so why don’t we try it and see what happens?

No country, including Iraq, wants to be taken over and ruled by another nation and I feel that until America loses its establishments in Iraq, there will be no peace to have.
